About Christiane Kingsley
Christiane Kingsley is a Canadian artist working in watercolor, acrylic and mixed media. She started her art journey more than 25 years ago as a fibre artist ; for many years, she sold her work through major craft shows in the Ottawa,Ontario,area . About 10 years ago, she discovered the magic of watercolour and the transition to this artistic expression was most fluid and logical. Christiane retired in December 2010 after a successful career as a high school teacher and then as a director of learning programs and services in the federal Public Service.
She is now a full-time painter, showing both in the Ottawa and Eastern Ontario as well as on international online galleries. She has been juried in as a permanent member of the Foyer Gallery, an artist-run art gallery in Ottawa. Christiane is also an active member of seceral art associations. Christiane also contributes extensively to online artistic communities. Her work is on display in the Canadian capital at the Kevin Dodds Gallery and at the Ottawa School of Art Gallery.
Christiane was awarded the Blythe-MacDonald Trophy by the Ottawa Art Association in April 2012 for the best watercolour painting at the OAA Spring Awards Show. In June 2014, she received the Paraskeva Clark Award at the Nepean Fine Arts League Annual Members Show for the most innovative work
Christiane loves to experiment with various mediums and various techniques. She regularlyvplays with the acrylic gels and mediums that are now available on the market. Her clients are responding most enthusiastically to her paintings of hand embossed pewter on acrylic backgrounds.
