Artist's Description
This is an original watercolor from my own reference photo of a Venetian mascarone ( a carved, stone head on the keystone of an archway). This noble Venetian has been watching the entrance of this palazzo for about five hundred years! It is part of my Memories of Venice series and is a great companion piece to my other mascarone paintings, The Gate Keeper and The Protectecto. After painting these stone faces, I somehow feel very close to them. They seem to watch over me:-)
About Christiane Kingsley
Christiane Kingsley is a Canadian artist working in watercolor, acrylic,oil and mixed media. She started her art journey more than 30 years ago as a fibre artist ; for many years, she sold her work through major craft shows in the Ottawa,Ontario,area . About 15 years ago, she discovered the magic of watercolour and the transition to this artistic expression was most fluid and logical. Christiane retired in December 2010 after a successful career as a high school teacher and then as a director of learning programs and services in the Canadian federal Public Service.
