Description
Homage to Botticelli" - My own variation of Botticelli's Portrait of a Young Woman. This is my second portrait after Botticelli.
It is 16" x 20" on an Ampersand Panel (wood with layers of Kaolin clay) that has been cradled.
It is mostly in watercolor with some dry gold pigment and acrylic . I fixed the watercolor and finished it with several light layers of acrylic varnish with UV protection. My professional framer added a wood cradle then framed this painting in a black wood floating frame for finished dimensions of 21.75" x 17.75".
I work with all mediums, but especially love the combination of watercolor and the Ampersand Aquabord surface. The resulting painting retains the transparency and glow of watercolor but with the vivid colors of acrylic or oils. It is displayed without glass.
I felt humbled to study Botticelli's masterpiece in order to give my own version of a small part of it. This is a timeless painting that will bring a touch of Renaissance Art to your home.
